The tablet also houses AKG quad speakers coupled with Dolby Atmos surround sound. Users can make full use of the redefined S Pen for fine creations and better productivity. Best Android Tablet For 2021

Android tablets rarely make the case for ditching your iPad, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any good options available. Here are our favorites.

Fewer and fewer manufacturers are coming out with Android tablets these days, so they may be easy to overlook if you’re on the hunt for a new tablet since Apple’s iPad is often the obvious choice. However, some Android tablets are doing their best to rival the Apple iPad and are definitely worth your consideration.

Some people may question the sanity of an Android tablet buyer in this day and age and this Apple-obsessed tablet market. But the best Android tablet models can meet any casual or professional need, whether you’re looking for a gaming tablet, a drawing tablet or something for word processing. Some even work with a touchpad or mouse. And if you’re already invested in the Android operating system and Android app ecosystem, you won’t have to buy them again for iOS.

What Are The Best Tablets For The Money

Apple and Microsoft continue to dominate the best tablets rankings, which largely consists of Surface devices and iPads. The best tablet for the money is the iPad Air. It might not offer the same power as the iPad Pro, or the portability of the iPad mini, but its size and price are what will attract everyday consumers.

If you need extra power or want a tablet to replace your laptop, then the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is the best option. Its speedy M1 chip can keep up with most laptops and the Retina XDR display is gorgeous when viewing HDR content. And now that it has mouse and trackpad support, the larger iPad Pro is a genuine laptop replacement. Just behind the iPad Pro is Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8. It too has a gorgeous display and fast performance. We even prefer its keyboard accessory over anything Apple sells.

If Apple and Microsoft aren’t your cups of tea, Samsung has stepped up its game with excellent Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus, an Android tablet with a DeX desktop interface, which can be used to double as your laptop. For less, you can get the Galaxy Tab S7 FE.

Apple’s latest iPad Air is the best non-Pro iPads ever, and the tablet we recommend to most people. Instead of being an upgraded version of the entry-level iPad, the new iPad Air is essentially an iPad Pro without the fancy, niche features. It has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with thin display bezels for a more modern design.

What Are The Best Android Tablets

The Galaxy Tab A7 is the best Android tablet for a variety of reasons . It’s at least $100 cheaper than the iPad, lasts a long while and unlike the hyper-affordable Amazon Fire 7 , it’s got all the apps you could ask for. Plus, it’s got super-thin bezels that make most other tablets at this price look chunky. Plus, it’s got facial recognition, so you can just look at its cameras to unlock it. The Galaxy Tab S7 is the big upgrade model, with many more perks, but I would bet the $229 Tab A7 is one of the best iPad alternatives for most.

That being said, it’s hard for many to argue with the value-level pricing of the Amazon Fire tablets. The Fire 7 is snappier than any $50 tablet has any right to be, and it’s got the added value of supporting Alexa, for those who want access to Amazon’s assistant at all times. I’d personally recommend people spend almost twice as much, though, as the Fire HD 8 has amazing endurance, the likes of which beats practically every tablet up and down the list.

Looking to draw? Well, the Galaxy Tab S6 and Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite should all be on your radar, as each comes with its own stylus. Both offer USB-C charging, something that isn’t in the Fire 7 which might matter to you if your household is already switching over to the reversible cable.

    A Pricey And Flimsy Keyboard

    Best 2020 K1081T Rugged Android 10 Tablet PC IP67 ...

The optional Book Cover Keyboard Case is hit-or-miss. The actual keyboard has excellent travel and a satisfying tactile feedback. The trackpad is swift and gestures work without a hitch. The cover turns into a stand, with good range of motion, and has a magnetic compartment for storing the S Pen.

The optional Book Cover Keyboard feels flimsy and cheap.

So whats not to like about the case? For starters, its nearly impossible to use in your lap. The stand is made to rest against a solid surface. Even if you manage to find a comfortable spot for it on your lap, theres a lot of flex in the keyboard. And frankly, the Book Cover Keyboard Case looks cheap. From a distance you might mistake the case for leather, but up close it unquestionably looks and feels like low-grade vinyl. Anyone who’s investing in a high-end tablet like the Tab S7+ will likely want a cover that gives the same impression of quality manufacture and design. The Book Cover Keyboard Case does not.

There may not be a long list of Android tablets available, but you do have options.

When it comes to finding the best tablets that run Android, your options are fairly limited. Most of the blame for that falls on Google, which abandoned its Android tablet hopes and dreams years ago, opting instead to integrate Android apps into Chrome OS. These Android tablets give users who prefer Google’s operating system over Apple’s iPadOS an alternative, albeit somewhat limited. As far as we’re concerned, there are only two main players in the Android tablet market: Samsung and Amazon.

Samsung’s tablet lineup consists of several different models, with a wide range in price and features. Meanwhile, Amazon’s tablets, which technically run a forked version of Android called Fire OS, are designed and sold at budget prices, integrating all of the online shopping giant’s stores and services.

We limited what we included in this list to tablets that offer a reliable experience, along with a mix of affordability and features. Not all Android tablets are created equal, so we used our years of research, personal experience, and knowledge about the products included here to make the suggestions below.

      Best Value Amazon Android Tablet

      Fire HD 8 Tablet

The 2020 Fire HD 8 is newer than the Fire HD 10 and has a smaller, more portable form factor.

      • Can be a bit large for some children
      • On the expensive side
      • No Google services built-in

Amazon expanded its Kids edition Fire Tablets in 2021, adding a Pro tier for older children ages 6 to 12 and keeping its standard Kids Edition Tablet options with content and features appropriate for children ages 3 to 7.

The latest and greatest of these devices is Fire HD 10 Kids Pro, which is filled with the best hardware and software you could ask for as a parent. Amazon took its top big tablet, loaded it with parental controls, kid-specific content for older children, and wrapped it in a durable and functional case. While the screen size could be difficult for some, the provided case includes a kickstand for viewing.

The 1080p display provides solid colors and clarity for content. The HD 10 Kids Pro also has the same awesome dual-speaker setup as the grown-up version. However, when you’d like to limit the noise, there’s a standard headphone jack.

Since this is a kids’ edition from Amazon, it gets a free year of Amazon’s Kids+ service. This provides parental controls for you and over 20,000 age-specific titles for your kids. Not only that, but the tablet also gets two years of “worry-free” guarantee â if the tablet breaks, Amazon will replace it. That could be the most important feature of all.

How Did We Choose These Android Tablets

When going through the list of available Android tablets, it’s quickly clear you don’t have very many options. We took those limited options and evaluated what the tablet has to offer and looked at the price. I’ve been testing tablets and smartphones for over a decade, and have used numerous tablets over those years.

In fact, nearly every single tablet on this list is currently sitting on my desk or a nearby shelf. There are specific use cases for each tablet, and with that comes a specific kind of customer. It’s with both of those factors in mind that I came up with this list.

Finding the best Android tablet for your needs can be a tricky proposition, but the good news is that there’s a whole world of options outside of the Amazon Fire tablets .

For example, Samsung leads the market with offerings that run pure Android and don’t lack any apps. However, if you’re a power Amazon user who just needs a portable device to enjoy your favorite Prime content on the go, the Fire tablets are a good choice.

To help you make a more informed buying decision we’ve put together a guide that covers all of the Android tablets worth your consideration, from Samsung’s excellent Galaxy Tab line to Amazon’s Fire tablets, which run a variation of Android. But while all of these tablets are worth a look, we have to dig deeper to answer the real question: which is the best Android tablet?

In our path to help you find the right Android tablet for you, we test them all in the lab, measuring battery life and performance, as well as screen quality. When it comes to app quality we’ve found that your decision might start by how many apps you want — and not all of these Android tablets get the same apps.

      Whats Your Ideal Screen Size

The most important decision to make when youre shopping for a tablet is what size screen you want. Tablets come in a variety of screen sizes ranging from seven to 14 inches, so youve got a lot of options. Your choice should take both readability and portability into account. If youre looking for a tablet you can hold in one hand and youre comfortable with a smaller screen, a seven-inch tablet may be perfect for you. On the other hand, if you find yourself squinting at your phone, or if you want a screen thats roughly the same size as a piece of paper, a 9.7-inch or 12.9-inch tablet may be more appropriate.

The best Android tablet for most people tends to come from Samsung or Amazon, but don’t sleep on Lenovo, making a series of tablets and smart displays for premium and budget shoppers. The Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 falls at the higher end, offering an alternative to the Galaxy Tab S7+ if you want a tablet the size of a laptop display â and the power to match.

With a Snapdragon 870 chipset and 8GB of RAM, the Yoga Tab 13 will respond to your Google Assistant commands or navigate through menus with no lag to speak of. Its built-in kickstand helps it naturally stand up on a desk without buying an expensive accessory case. Thanks to the stand and its micro-HDMI port, it works naturally as a monitor for your computer or other devices without taking up much room on your desk. Or, if you do prefer to hold it, the Yoga Tab 13 has soft Alcantara fabric on its back that makes it especially comfortable to prop in your arms.

If you want to know if a particular model is great for gaming or too slow for web browsing, then read our reviews, which include benchmark results for a more empirical comparison you cant rely on specifications such as processor speed or number of cores it possesses to guarantee good performance.

We also test battery life, to give you an accurate idea of how long each tablet should likely last between charges. The best tablets last around ten hours or more, while the worst only manage four to five hours on a charge.

The same applies to cameras, and as with performance, you shouldnt judge by the number of megapixels. Instead, check out our test photos in each review to see whether youre happy with the quality on offer. Few Android tablets have great cameras, and quite a few have awful ones, so if photos, videos and video calls are important, dont buy before youve read our reviews.

Once you’ve got your Android tablet, you might do yourself a favour by investing in one of our best tablet stands, to make usage more comfortable, reduce neck strain, and improve your posture.

What Size Tablet Should I Buy

The first thing to consider is screen size. This ranges from around 7in to 13in, although for most people, an 8in or 9in tablet represents the best compromise between usability and portability.

With bigger screens comes more weight. Aim for a maximum of around 450g, as anything heavier can be uncomfortable to hold for long periods, such as when watching a film. That said, if you intend for your new slate to spend most of its life propped up on your lap or on a desk, weight isnt likely to be so much of an issue.
