  • What Is A Document Signing App

A document signing app allows you to quickly sign, complete and request signatures digitally. E-signatures are legally enforceable in most business and other transactions due to audit trails of each agreement that can be independently verified.

E-signature and digital signature programs are also more secure than traditional documents. These apps feature multiple layers of security, including digital certificates and records, making the document tamper-evident. Most of the document signing apps are free for signers. However, premium features are usually behind a paywall.

How To Sign Documents On Android

First off, you need an app that can handle signatures. There are a lot of these around, with some of the big ones including SignNow, DocuSign and Adobe Sign. These all do the job, and their paid subscriptions allow access to extra enterprise-focussed features if you plan to use the service a lot in your line of work.

However, for the average person who just needs the ability to scribble a signature on a PDF and little else, we recommend either Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Fill and Sign. While both apps prompt you to sign in or make an Adobe account, you can quit out of this menu and use them without an account. Handy if you need to add your signature to some documents ASAP, or don’t fancy handing over your details to Adobe.

    We’ll start with Acrobat Reader.

How to sign documents on Android with Adobe Acrobat Reader

    1. Once you open the app and close the sign-up sheet , you’ll be on the home screen of the app. If your document doesn’t appear here, go to Items, then select the source. 2.Select your document, which takes you to the screen on the left. It may also look like the screen on the right if the app has “Liquid Mode” reading enabled . This makes for a more immersive reading experience but doesn’t make a difference to adding a signature.

    What Is A Digital Signature

But what about digital signatures? Are the terms interchangeable?

A digital signature is not the same as an electronic signature. It’s an encrypted “packet” associated with a document.

Digital signature software creates a condensed version of a document called a hash which will be encrypted using a key in a signatory certificate. This encrypted “hash” is the signature. To validate the signature, the hash is decrypted with the signatory’s key and compared to the original document.

Many of the signature apps we’ll cover below offer features for both electronic and digital signatures, so you don’t have to pick between the two.

Bid Goodbye To Paperwork With These Document Signing Apps

The use of dedicated digital signature apps streamlines the whole process, uses public-key cryptography, and is more secure than using apps like Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop.

While most of these apps do not require a subscription for signing documents, advanced features are only available to premium users. Before you decide to swipe your card, use the free trial.
