Best Cheap Phones Extra Info

Using the Cheapest Smartphone in the World.

We’ve written this guide to encompass the best cheap phones on the market right now, but if you like a specific manufacturer or operating system then we have plenty of specialist phone guides here too.

For example, our best gaming phones guide covers the high-powered handsets that we’ve found to be the best battlers in mobile gaming, and our best Android phones guide isn’t going to offer you an iPhone if your heart is set on Android. If you prefer to buy a particular brand, check out our guides to the top-rated Samsung phones, best iPhone, and Nokia phones and many more. We’ve also got a guide to the best small phones for those of us who prefer our phones to fit in our pockets or purses.

You’ll find that most of the phones here are using 4G technology, not 5G. That’s unlikely to be an issue for most of the UK, where 5G is still relatively patchy, and 4G is fast enough for things like video streaming. However if you really want 5G speeds then check out our best 5G phones guide.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 5g: The Best Folding Phone

Price: £949 l Buy now from Argos

The Galaxy Z Flip is back and better than ever. Now with IPX8-rated waterproofing, a more durable inner screen and a hard-wearing “Armor Aluminium” frame, the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is the first folding phone that’s actually worth buying. Other upgrades include the leap to a Snapdragon 888 processor, a 4x larger cover screen and a maximum 120Hz refresh on the inside. Best of all, though, is that the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G is no longer hideously expensive: it’s around £350 cheaper than last year’s model, and actually costs the same as the iPhone 13 Pro, which now looks rather pedestrian by comparison.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5g Review: The Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is a solid mid-ranger with a few predictable shortcomings. It competes well in a market thats saturated with alternatives and could be a winner for Samsung.

Samsung adopted its typical design language for the phone, which is a love it or hate it type thing. The Galaxy A52 5G packs a whopping 6.5-inch 120Hz panel that looks really good. All-day battery is available from the 4,500mAh power supply, and the 64MP main camera does a reasonably good job for this price range.

No $500 phone is without compromises, but none of the A52 5G’s shortcomings feel like total deal-breakers.

The secondary cameras could do a better job, particularly the ultra-wide camera, which generates soft results. And, if theres anything to really ding the phone for, its performance. Its perfectly fine for daily tasks, but if youre into gaming, the Galaxy A52 5Gs Snapdragon 750G processor just doesnt have the necessary chops.

On the whole, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is a scrappy mid-ranger that offers a lot of value far more than its predecessor. No $500 phone is without compromises, but none of the A52 5Gs shortcomings feel like total deal-breakers.

Samsung Galaxy A32 5G

An excellent camera package, regardless of price

Samsung went all out with the Galaxy A32’s cameras, giving you a 48MP primary lens and three other ones to play around with.

  • No wireless charging

Nokia makes solid Android phones that don’t cost too much, and the Nokia G50 5G continues that tradition of high-quality hardware with clean Android One-based software. The phone’s design is striking, too, with a tall-and-thin 19.5:9 aspect ratio that makes the metallic-looking body easy to grasp and use in one hand. And because the Nokia G50 5G runs Android One, it will get platform updates until the end of 2023 and security patches until 2024.

On the hardware front, the Nokia G50 5G packs some serious power. The 5G-enabled Snapdragon 480 processor and 4/6GB of RAM allow for reliable performance, the 5,000 mAh battery easily provides two days of use per charge, and you get a total of four cameras for endless picture-taking possibilities, including an excellent 48MP primary sensor and an 8MP wide front camera. Throw in smaller features like NFC, expandable storage, and a headphone jack, and you end up with a really complete package.

It’s rare to get a 120Hz screen on a budget, but that’s exactly what you get with the Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC. That can make interactions feel smoother, and its 6.67-inch 1080 x 2400 screen is large and fairly sharp too, as well as supporting HDR10.

And it’s not just the screen that stands out, as the Poco X3 NFC also has a fairly powerful Snapdragon 732G chipset, which offers excellent gaming performance for the money. With a big 5,160mAh battery too this really is a remarkable cheap phone.

There are some compromises, most notably when it comes to the camera, which isnt as good as some others at this end of the market, but for gaming, video, and most general use, the Xiaomi Poco X3 NFC is hard to beat without spending quite a bit more.

Motorola consistently makes some of the best cheap phones, and the Moto G9 Power is among its best affordable handsets yet, thanks in large part to its massive 6,000mAh battery. Thats far bigger than the batteries in most phones of any budget, and we found that it translates into almost two days of life with average use.

But the Moto G9 Power also has a similarly massive 6.8-inch screen, which while only 720 x 1640 means its great for watching movies on.

How We Picked And Tested

After testing dozens of budget smartphones over the past few years, weve found that most of them arent worth recommending because of problems that outweigh their low prices, such as abysmal performance, bloated software, useless cameras, infrequent or nonexistent updates, or some combination. Here are the things we look for in a phone before recommending it:

How We Test The Best Phones

Worlds Cheapest Smartphone? – Vodafone First 7 Unboxing

There’s a lot to consider when reviewing one of today’s best phones, and for T3 we have a detailed five-stage process that each new device goes through.

Firstly, we judge the phone from a build quality and fit and finish point of view, as well as how comprehensive its package is. This stage is very much ascertaining how a phone feels in the hand, how robust it looks and what extras it does or doesn’t come with. If a phone has a cheap plastic backplate and a spongy screen then we’ll find out and let you know.

Next up we review the phone from a setup and hardware point of view. This stage sees us set up the phone as we would if it were our own, as well as examine exactly what hardware it comes with, such as its processor, RAM, storage and GPU, among other things. The goal here is to see how accessible setup is and what, on paper, your money is buying you.

Thirdly, we then move onto the phone’s software and highlight features. So, for example, on Android we test out how good the phone maker’s user interface skin is, as each one if definitely not made equal. Or, for example, if testing a new Galaxy Note phone, we’ll absolutely test out its digital stylus. We also test features like biometric security, fingerprint readers and reverse wireless charging.

Only then, when all five of these phone review procedures are complete, do we award a score to a phone, with 5 stars been the highest rank a product can get.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5g Price And Availability

Samsung announced the Galaxy A52 5G in March 2021 and it launched in the United States on April 9 with compatibility for AT& T, Metro by T-Mobile, T-Mobile, and US Cellular. The phone is available from these carriers as well as unlocked through Samsung, Amazon, Best Buy, and other major retailers for $500, though AT& T already has it down to $5 a month for 30 months , and I fully expect similar deals as the summer wears on. In the United States, the Galaxy A52 5G is sold with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

If you live in Europe, this is the A52 5G color to buy.

While North America only gets the Awesome Black colorway, the phone also comes in Awesome Blue, Awesome Violet, and Awesome White in Europe, where the phone starts at £395 in the United Kingdom and starts at 449 in most of Europe. Models in Europe are mostly sold with 6GB of RAM, with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage depending on the individual market.

Best 5g Phone For Under $300

At $299, the OnePlus N10 5G brings 5G and some upscale features to a budget phone.

While you wont find a fantastic screen here, its large 6.46-inch LCD does come with a faster-than-average 90Hz refresh rate. Worth noting is the devices somewhat tall 20:9 aspect ratio, which is a little unusual at first glance but makes the phone slightly narrower and easier to use with one hand. Its processor is capable enough, though it sometimes shows its limits and only supports sub-6Hz 5G networks. It launched with Android 10, and

dont expect to get Android 12 on this model

OnePlus has released the update to Android 11 already. But thats it dont expect to get Android 12 on this model. OnePlus is offering two years of security updates in addition to that.

On the camera side, the N10 offers a 64-megapixel main camera thats surprisingly good in daylight and even moderately low light. Theres an 8-megapixel ultrawide, too, along with macro and monochrome cameras that arent really worth talking about. Its not Pixel 5A-level good, but if you dont push it too hard, the N10s main camera takes good photos in the right light.

What Are The Best Budget Android Phones

Last year was tremendous for Android phones in the budget space, and fortunately, this trend continued well into 2021. You’re seeing features like multiple cameras, faster processors, and 5G hit price points that would have been unheard of just a couple of years ago. Because of that, there’s a wealth of quality options in the $200$450 range that won’t make you feel like you’re compromising.

For our top picks, you can’t go wrong with either the and . The 2020 model hits the perfect balance of performance, camera quality, and battery life, with a clean build of Android that you’re sure to love and the same camera as the 5a. Go with the new model, and you’ll get a much larger screen, 5G support, waterproofing, and amazing battery life though it stretches the definition of a “budget” Android phone.

Further down the list, we really love the Nokia G50 5G. It has a lower-resolution display, plastic back, and slightly less RAM and storage than some other phones on this list. Still, overall it’s a package that we can absolutely recommend, especially if you’re looking to save as much money as possible on an unlocked Android phone with good cameras, 5G support, great battery life, and smooth software.

We also recommend the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G. This phone surprised us with its beautiful display and tremendous performance, although you’ll want to make sure you’re ready for a phone this size it’s a big one.

How To Choose The Best Smartphone For You

  • Android or iPhone? Android phones give you more choice in terms of price, size and innovative designs. However, iPhones offer speedier software updates, better games and apps and better security and privacy. See our iPhone vs Android face-off.
  • Unlocked or carrier? Most shoppers in the U.S. buy new phones through their wireless carrier. But an unlocked phone gives you the freedom to buy the device without any sort of contract and then bring it to the provider you want to use.
  • Screen size: If you’re looking for a big phone, 6 inches and up is a good place to start. The biggest phones are 6.5 to 6.8 inches. If you want something you can easily use with one hand, go with one of the best small phones with a screen under 6 inches.
  • Cameras: Don’t pay attention to the megapixel count. Instead, look at camera face-offs between phones to see the photo quality and look for special features like Night Mode to get better quality in low light. Also see our best camera phone roundup.
  • Battery life: Generally, phones with larger batteries offer the longest battery life, but that’s not always the case. That’s why we run our own battery test.

Best Large Foldable Phone: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

In the first two years of foldable phones existence, skeptics and doubters have pointed to their high prices and supposed fragility as a sign that foldables were just a fad. Well, Samsung is here to tell the naysayers nah. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 not only managed to do what was previously thought impossible by water-proofing the device, Samsung also lowered the price by 10%. Sure, at $1,800 its still expensive, but this is a bleeding-edge portable computer that can do literally a million things. There is nothing else like it.

Thats not all when it comes to improvements. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 also improved the foldable display to make it sturdier and feel more like glass. This foldable screen also supports the S-Pen, although a separate purchase is required. The outside cover display gained a refresh rate up to 120Hz, and the overall dimensions of the phones have shrunk ever so slightly. The hard sharp corners of the previous device have been rounded, making for a foldable that, while still a bit hefty at 271g, is easier to handle and carry.

If you want a phone that can be both a tablet and a smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is hard to beat right now. If you find it a bit too big, however, then Samsung has a smaller option for you too see below.

Black Friday Phone Deals How To Find The Best Sales

Every year, phones high and low go on sale for Black Friday. Sometimes they’re unlocked, other times they have some carrier deal attached to them. Either way, this is one of the best times of the year to buy a new phone.

Samsung: We usually see big sales from Samsung, as you may have noticed already. From last year’s flagships to this year’s affordable options, Samsung typically offers nice discounts on Black Friday. However at the moment, Samsung’s prices have gone up a bit, so it’s probably best to wait a day or two to see if the full discounts return.

Motorola: Motorola is another player in Black Friday phone deals. While the company doesn’t play in the big leagues like Samsung, it does offer slight discounts on its more popular, affordable devices.

iPhone: Apple is usually pretty stingy with iPhone deals unless it’s on older models. Don’t expect to see wild sales on the new iPhone 13 series, but the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE have all seen discounts in one place or another. The real place to get a good deal on an iPhone is through a carrier, often with BOGO or trade-in deals. We have a comprehensive list of the best iPhone Black Friday deals and best iPhone 13 Black Friday deals for your reference.
