Obtain A User Code And Verification Url

Google Android Device Manager service starting soon – Top News (5-08-2013)

Once a user requests to sign in using a Google Account, you obtain a user codeand verification URL by sending an HTTP POST request to the OAuth 2.0 deviceendpoint, Include yourclient ID and a list of the scopes you need with the request. If you only wantto sign in users with their Google accounts, request only the profile andemail scopes or, if you want to request permission to call asupported APIon behalf of users, request the required scopes in addition to the profileand email scopes.

The following is an example request for a user code:

POST /device/code HTTP/1.1Host: oauth2.googleapis.comContent-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencodedclient_id=CLIENT_ID& scope=email%20profile

Using curl:

curl -d "client_id=CLIENT_ID& client_secret=CLIENT_SECRET& code=DEVICE_CODE& grant_type="

If the user has not yet approved the request, the response is as follows:

Your app should repeat these requests at a rate that does not exceed the valueof interval. If your app polls too quickly, the response is as follows:

Once the user signs in and grants your app access to the scopes you requested, the response to your app’s next request includes an ID token, an access token, and a refresh token:

ID and access tokens have limited lifetimes. To keep the user signed in beyondthe tokens’ lifetimes, store the refresh token and use it torequest new tokens.

Qr Code Provisioning Process

  • The setup wizard prompts the user to tap the Welcome screen 6 times. The taps have to be done in the same place on the screen.
  • The setup wizard prompts the user to connect to the Internet so the setup wizard can download a QR code reader.
  • Google Play services downloads a module that contains a QR code recognition engine.
  • The user scans the QR code provided by their IT admin.
  • The setup wizard downloads your DPC app and initiates the device owner provisioning process using ACTION_PROVISION_MANAGED_DEVICE.
  • Set Up Device Owner Mode Only On Company

You should provision device owner mode only on devices that you identify asbeing owned by your customers company. You can verify this by detecting aunique device identifier , or by using a dedicatedset of accounts that are authorized for device enrollment through your EMMpolicy.

If you cant verify company ownership of a device, you must create a fail-safemechanism so that device owner mode is not provisioned by mistake. For example, you could prompt the device user to confirm or take some affirmative actionbefore provisioning device owner mode.

Find My Device: What It Is And How To Use It To Find Your Phone

ByHarish Jonnalagaddalast updated 16 November 21

Find My Device easily lets you remotely track, lock, and erase the data on a lost or stolen phone. You can also see the battery life remaining on your phone and the Wi-Fi network it is connected to. There are other ways to track a lost Android phone, but Find My Device is the easiest option, and it is enabled on all Android phones out of the box.

Find My Device is a part of Google Play Protect and the broader Play Services, a suite of utilities designed to protect your phone from malicious content. Google is leveraging its machine learning expertise to scan and verify the apps installed on your phone, and while the Verify Apps feature has existed for several years now, Google is making the process much more visible to users.

Here’s what you need to know about Find My Device and how you can set it up on your phone.

How To Find Your Android By Using Find My Device

How To Use Android Device Manager On PC

You can find your Android device using the Find My Device website or via Google’s Find My Device app on a different Android device that’s logged into the same Google account.

One word of caution: If you log into your Google account on a public computer or someone else’s PC to find your phone, remember to use a browser in private or incognito mode and log out when you are done.

      1. Start the app or go to in a web browser.

      2. If you have one device, Find My Device should immediately zero in on that device . If you have multiple devices, you can select the one you’re looking for using the device icons at the top of the page.

      3. In addition to seeing the phone on the map, you have three options:

      • Select “Play Sound” to remotely command the phone to play a ringtone sound. If the phone is turned on and connected to the internet, it will play the sound regardless of the phone’s volume settings.
      • Select “Secure Device” to prevent someone from accessing your phone’s data. You can also display a message or phone number on the lock screen to help retrieve the device.
      • Select “Erase Device” if the phone has been lost or stolen and you don’t expect to get it back. This will wipe the phone and reset it to factory conditions.

Send A Tone Or Delete The Devices Data

If the device is near your current location or is somewhere secure, Android Device Manager can send a sound notification to yourphone or tablet to play at full volume for five minutes, even if the device is on silent or vibrate.

Alternatively, if youve enabled the remote wipe options in Google, you can remotely delete all the data stored on the device, including photos, contacts, emails and apps, with a simple click of the Erase Device button.

      Install The Play Store

Now comes the final step: installing the Play Store. Find the Downloads/Files app on your device and open it. If you don’t have a file manager, and install it. You should see all four APK files â â if not, go back and figure out which one you missed.

The four APKs ready for installation

Open the apps in the below order, and when the installation is complete, press ‘Done’ and not ‘Open.’ Installing the apps out of order will cause the Play Store to not work. Also, if you have an SD card, make sure to take it out during these installations.

    • Once you have installed all four apps, reboot your device. If one of the applications didn’t install, it means you probably downloaded the wrong APK variant â go back and make sure you properly matched the CPU architecture and Android version. If your device has the arm64-v8 architecture, try downloading the variant for armv7a. Some low-end devices have arm64 processors, but run Android in 32-bit armv7 mode.

If you can open the Play Store and sign in, pat yourself on the back, you did it! Now you can download all the apps and games you could ever want.

The Ultimate Guide For Installing The Google Play Store On Amazon Fire Tablets

This article is part of a directory

It’s tough to find a good Android tablet these days, which is what makes Amazon’s lineup so appealing. Not only does the company release new models at least once per year, but they’re super affordable, priced as low as just $50 for the entry-level Fire 7. Amazon’s tablets run Fire OS, a forked version of Android with a custom home screen, and, most notably, scraps the Google Play Store for Amazon’s own Appstore. While it does contain some popular apps and games, there’s simply no replacement for the Play Store especially when you’re looking for apps like YouTube, Chrome, Gmail, and more.

Here’s the good news: getting the Play Store on your Fire Tablet is super easy, and we can walk you right through the process. This guide takes you through every required step for installing Google’s own app store on your device, with instructions for models dating back to 2014. And if you’re stuck, we also have some troubleshooting steps at the end of this tutorial.

How To Locate Your Phone Over The Internet

    • Check if your device is visible.
    • Android Device Manager Updated For The First Time In Two Years And Renamed To Find My Device

Android Device Manager, Galaxy Note III leaks, BlackBerry Porsche Z10 & more – Pocketnow Daily
      Read update
      • We’ve got a changelog for the app now:

In the first update the app has seen since 2015, Android Device Manager has been bumped to V2, bringing some much needed visual changes and a new name. Be pleased to make your first introduction to Find My Device. We have an updated APK that shows the app has been redesigned and given a new name: Find My Device. The new version offers all the same features but updates the interface a bit to remove the last dregs of Holo.

All of the branding and elements in the app have been updated. The new icon doesn’t have that dated XP-era gradient 3d look. Overall design in the app is much more pleasant, too. Now your devices are listed as icons in a row at the top, instead of items in a drop-down menu below. The same options for interacting with your devices remotely are present after tapping them below, as well, and my bleeding ears can testify that they work just as they did before.

The new version of the app is 2.0.014, replacing the 2-year-old version 1.4.4. The update isn’t live for everyone yet and is probably going to hit along with proper news about the release some time during I/O, but in the meantime, you can check out the latest version over at APKMirror.

How To Find Your Lost Or Stolen Android Device

If youve lost your device and can not seem to find it, you dont have to worry as long as you have signed into your device with a Google account and remember the ID and password of that particular account.

In devices running Android 4.4 and earlier, inputting an incorrect pin, password or pattern five times will show an option to reset the unlocking method Forgot PIN?, Forgot Password? or Forgot Pattern?

Following which, irrespective of the locking method, the new window will require you to enter the google account credentials of the account associated with the device but this wasnt safe in case the attacker knows your google credentials too.

But since Android version 5.0, this feature has been removed, with two options remaining. Removing the Forgot Password feature provides additional protection to the device as any attacker can not bypass the password until he knows it.

If your smartphone manufacturer has something like Samsungs Find my Mobile feature, you can use that or else you can use Android Device Manager.

Usually, the Android Device Manager is activated on devices by default, but in some cases, it is not. So, check whether your devices Android Manager is activated.

Go to your devices Settings menu, then find Device Administrators, youll find the option to activate/deactivate the Android Device Manager.

Implementation Considerations For The Google Account Method

      • The DPC should detect the Google Account authentication flow by looking forspecific extras in the launch intent that was used :

      • Account of type android.accounts.AccountIndicates that the account was addedfrom the setup wizard or from Settings > Add account, which requires the launched DPC to manage the device or profile.
      • is_setup_wizard of type BooleanIf true, the DPC was launched in the setup wizard before the setup wizard completed, otherwise from Settings > Add account or another flow.

A simple check for whether the DPC was launched as part of the Google Accountmethod is:

      boolean isSynchronousAuthLaunch
Intent intent = new Intent startActivityForResult
      • The DPC should not attempt to set up the device owner mode of operation if thedevice is already provisioned ). In this example, the DPC checks if the device is provisioned:
      public static boolean isDeviceProvisioned
