How To Delete A Folder In Android

Creating Your First Simple Android App

There are a couple of ways to get rid of a home screen folder in Android:

  • Tap the folder you want to remove so you can see all the apps in it.
  • Drag each app out of the folder. The folder will be gone once youve moved all your apps out of it.
  • Another way to delete a folder is to tap and hold on the folder and select Remove.
  • Choose Remove in the prompt and your folder will disappear.
  • Know that deleting a folder doesnt delete the apps in it. Your apps continue to exist on your device. You can find them again in your app drawer, usually accessed by swiping up on the home screen.

    Hiding Apps On A Oneplus

  • 1Open the app drawer. You can do this by swiping up on the home screen.XResearch source
  • This method teaches you how to hide apps from your OnePlus home screen and app drawer without having to uninstall.
  • 2Swipe right to the Hidden Space folder. This is a special area in which you can store apps you don’t want to see in the app drawer.
  • 3Tap +. It’s the plus symbol at the top-right corner.
  • 4Select the app you want to hide. You can hide as many apps as you’d like.
  • 5Enable a password . If you don’t want anyone to swipe over to Hidden Space, tap the three dots at the top-right and select Enable Password. When selected, you’ll have to enter your PIN or pattern to view the apps inside.
  • 6Tap the checkmark to save. It’s at the top-right corner. Your hidden apps are now hiding in Hidden Space.
  • To unhide apps, open the Hidden Space folder and select Unhide. Then, tap and hold an app and select Unhide to bring it back to the app drawer.
  • Adjust The Next Button

You will adjust the button labeled Next, which Android Studio created for you when you created the project. The constraint between it and the TextView looks a little different, a wavy line instead of a jagged one, with no arrow. This indicates a chain, where the constraints link two or more objects to each other, instead of just one to another. For now, you’ll delete the chained constraints and replace them with regular constraints.

Change The Background Color Of The Layout

Give your new activity a different background color than the first activity:

  • In colors.xml, add a new color resource:
  • < color name="screenBackground2"> #26C6DA< /color>
  • In the layout for the second activity, fragment_second.xml, set the background of the ConstraintLayout to the new color.
  • In the Attributes panel:

    Or in XML:

Your app now has a completed layout for the second fragment. But if you run your app and press the Random button, it may crash. The click handler that Android Studio set up for that button needs some changes. In the next task, you will explore and fix this error.

The Essential Android Development Tool: Android Studio

When building Android apps, youll need to download Android Studio. This is the official Integrated Development Environment for Android, and it was developed specifically for creating apps on the mobile OS.

The development environment has a ton of features that simplify creating Android apps. It has an easy-to-read user interface with a code editor, a preview section that reflects your changes as you make them, and plenty of templates and sample apps. It also integrates with GitHub.

You can download Android Studio for free from the Android developers website.

Google has also created a vast resource for learning how to use Android Studio you can check it out here.

This contains best practices and a list of core topics that cover everything you need to build an app.

While Android Studio is the primary IDE for Android apps, in the past there have been alternatives.

Eclipse was the primary IDE for a while and many tutorials that havent been updated mention this program.

However, it is no longer supported and Android developers should use Android Studio instead.

    Do Competitive Market Research

Now we need to figure out if the problem that your app solves is being solved by other apps.

**NOTE** If your reasons to make an app is to get some good ol experience with the process you can skip to the next step

Dont be disheartened if you see other apps in the App Store that already tackle the same problem that your app does. Remember what I said earlier, there are no new ideas and there is always room for improvements.

Actually, this can be a good thing because that tells you that your idea is viable and there is a real need for it. Thats why there is competition!

The key is to uncover HOW WELL the need is being met by these other existing apps.

Potentially, these apps may be out of date or the app author may have stopped updating them.

Or maybe none of them meet the mark of what the audience REALLY NEEDS and WANTS.

Scroll through the ratings and reviews of any competing apps you find. Take note of the following:

    • App Name
    • Ratings and Reviews

You might want to create a matrix or spreadsheet to keep track of your results. This research that youre doing right now is going to create the starting point for the features to include in your own app and which ones to focus on first.

Submit Your App To The App Store

Heres the exciting part! Youre finally ready to launch your iPhone app into the App Store so that millions of people can download your creation!

Theres one more hurdle to overcome and thats Apples App Certification Team.

    Heres how it works:

  • Make sure your app qualifies: Review it against these App Store guidelines. Fix up anything you need to first.
  • Fill in your app meta data: App Store Connect is a website where you can create your app listing and fill in all the important details such as title, description, keywords and more. Youll also set your screenshots and any preview videos that you want to add.
  • Upload your app from Xcode: to App Store Connect. From Xcode, you package up your project and ship the code to App Store Connect under the app listing that you just created.
  • Go back to App Store Connect and submit your app to review: Now that youve got your app meta data and code in a neat and tidy package, its time to add any notes for the reviewer and submit it to the App Certification Team.
  • Wait anxiously for a reply: Thats right.. you have to wait for someone to manually review the app that youve submitted! Theyll be checking your app against the App Store guidelines and that your app doesnt crash or provide a negative user experience.
  • When you get to this step, check out our guide on how to submit your app to the App Store!

    STEP 9

Build The App With One Of These Options

This is the step where you actually bring to life your app from the design and requirements document that you created in earlier steps. By the way, this is the stage that I get excited about! Youre about to create something tangible

Just like the previous steps, you have a couple of options to make your app. If youre also curious how much each of these options might cost, check it out here:

  • Learn to code and build it yourself: This is most time consuming option but youll gain a valuable and in-demand skill to build your own apps or get a job as a developer. If this option appeals to you, check out our free resources to start learning iOS development and how to get started.
  • Hire a freelancer: If youre more interested in the business side of things then investing the time to learn how to code might not be a wise move. Instead, invest funds into hiring someone to build your app for you. Check out sites like Freelancer.com or Upwork.com.
  • Hire an app development company: The difference is that an app development company will provide consulting and project management services whereas a freelancer will look to you to provide direction. However, hiring a company will cost a lot more than working with freelancers.
  • Partner with a programmer: Another option is finding a programmer to partner with. The problem is that its really tough to find a willing partner unless you have a proven successful track record of launching businesses .
  • STEP 8

    Where To Go From Here

With these two basic concepts in mind, you have two options. If you prefer staying in the main documentation, which makes it easy to branch off to other topics to learn more about specific aspects of building an app, you can proceed to the next lesson to build your first app. However, if you like to follow step-by-step tutorials that explain every step from beginning to end, then consider the Android Basics in Kotlin course.

    Update The Next Button

Android code: Add contact person, email, telephone with ...

The Next button already has its text in a string resource, but you’ll make some changes to the button to match its new role, which will be to generate and display a random number.

  • As you did for the Toast button, change the id of the Next button from button_first to random_button in the Attributes panel.
  • If you get a dialog box asking to update all usages of the button, click Yes. This will fix any other references to the button in the project code.
  • In strings.xml, right-click on the next string resource.
  • Select Refactor > Rename… and change the name to random_button_text.
  • Click Refactor to rename your string and close the dialog.
  • Change the value of the string from Next to Random.
  • If you want, move random_button_text to below toast_button_text.

    Open The Layout Editor

  • Find and open the layout folder on the left side in the Project panel.
  • Double-click fragment_first.xml.
  • Troubleshooting: If you don’t see the file fragment_first.xml, confirm you are running Android Studio 3.6 or later, which is required for this codelab.

The panels to the right of the Project view comprise the Layout Editor. They may be arranged differently in your version of Android Studio, but the function is the same.

On the left is a Palette of views you can add to your app.

Below that is a Component Tree showing the views currently in this file, and how they are arranged in relation to each other.

In the center is the Design editor , which shows a visual representation of what the contents of the file will look like when compiled into an Android app. You can view the visual representation, the XML code, or both.

  • In the upper right corner of the Design editor, above Attributes , find the three icons that look like this: These represent Code , Split , and Design views.
  • Try selecting the different modes. Depending on your screen size and work style, you may prefer switching between Code and Design, or staying in Split view. If your Component Tree disappears, hide and show the Palette.
  • Split view:

  • At the lower right of the Design editor you see + and buttons for zooming in and out. Use these buttons to adjust the size of what you see, or click the zoom-to-fit button so that both panels fit on your screen.
  • Use the device menu to view the layout on different devices.
  • Add A Constraint To The New Button

You will now constrain the top of the button to the bottom of the TextView.

  • Move the cursor over the circle at the top of the Button.
  • The Button moves up to sit just below the TextView because the top of the button is now constrained to the bottom of the TextView.

  • Take a look at the Constraint Widget in the Layout pane of the Attributes panel. It shows some constraints for the Button, including Top -> BottomOf textView.
  • Take a look at the XML code for the button. It now includes the attribute that constrains the top of the button to the bottom of the TextView.
  • You may see a warning, “Not Horizontally Constrained“. To fix this, add a constraint from the left side of the button to the left side of the screen.
  • Also add a constraint to constrain the bottom of the button to the bottom of the screen.
  • Before adding another button, relabel this button so things are a little clearer about which button is which.

  • Look at the Attributes panel on the right, and notice the id field.
  • Change the id from button to toast_button.
