How Do I Switch User Accounts In Android

How to switch Facebook account on Facebook app | switch account

I just set up a new account on my Android tablet for my daughter, and now have no clue how to switch back to my own as needed. HELP!

One of the features in Android that astonishes long-time Apple iPhone or iPad users is the baked in support for multiple user accounts. Its so darn nice, its a never-ending source of frustration for iOS users that theres no equivalent on the Apple side. Apparently, Apple just figures youll buy more gear and everyone will have their own products. Expensive, to say the least. Android, on the other hand, has a robust account management system and its surprisingly easy to create new accounts on your Android device, whether its an Android phone or an Android tablet. You can even set up special child accounts and gain access to lots of great parental controls too.

But its still not a great implementation because it feels like some of the multi-account features were grafted in almost as an afterthought. Top among them is how to switch between user accounts. Then again, once I show you how to do it, youll be able to switch back and forth with just a tap or two, so that balances things out for the most part.

The secret is that theres a tiny user silhouette icon that shows up on the pull-down quick access menu that leads you to the multi-user access page. But, hey, lets not talk about it, let me show you.

Did you spot the silhouette icon? Its red and along the bottom row. Yeah, I said it was subtle, right?

If you use an Android phone or tablet, you know that your Google account is tightly integrated with the experience. The default account will decide how youre logged in to many apps, especially Google apps. Well show you how to change this.

To begin, swipe down from the top of your Android smartphone or tablets screen and then tap the gear icon to open the Settings menu.

Scroll down the Settings list and select Google.

Your default Google account will be listed at the top of the screen. Select the drop-down arrow icon under your name to bring up the accounts list.

Everyone who owns an Android phone has a Google account, but there are lots of other apps on our phones that all require their own login credentials. The longer you have your phone the more they can pile up, and before long, your app drawer is filled with all sorts of services that may or may not be tied to an active account.

But you dont have to open each app to manage them. Whether you want to add, remove, or tweak one of your accounts, Google has built a handy way to do it right inside the Settings app. Let us show you how to do it.

The Accounts tab in Settings holds the keys to all of the online accounts on your phone.

Under the Personal tab in Settings, youll find an option for Accounts. This is separate from the Google tab, where youll find a slew of preferences related to how your Google account operates on your device. Accounts keeps a running list of the social media, storage, and email accounts you have on your phone and gives you the power to delete them and control their background activities.

These two screens might look the same, but the Add Account page also includes any apps that havent been linked with an account yet.

Select one of the apps in the list and youll be taken to its respective login page where you can login with a new username. When you return to the Accounts page it will have been added to active list.

4. Click on the Remove account button.

5. Confirm your selection by tapping on Remove account once again.

You can also do it by going through the Gmail app where you have to tap on your profile icon again and select the Manage accounts on your device option.
