How To Install Updates For Apk Apps On Android
The Google Play Store only lets you update the apps that youve downloaded from the store. To update your apps that youve installed using APKs, you have two methods.
Manually Find & Install Updates
One way to update your APK apps is to download the newer APK file and install them. Thisll overwrite your existing app but will preserve your data in those apps.
You can find newer versions of your APK apps on some APK download sites or the official website for the app.
Use An App To Update Your Apps
You can use a free app like APKUpdater to update your downloaded apps just like the official Google Play Store method. This app scans your device for all installed apps, finds updates for those apps, and offers to install the updates.
APKUpdater uses multiple sources to find the latest versions of your installed apps. It also sends a notification when an update is found for your apps.
Why Use An Apk To Install An App On Android
There are various reasons you may want to use an APK to install apps.
A common reason is that the app youre looking for isnt present on the Google Play Store. You can download the APK for that app from the developers site and use the app on your phone.
Other reasons include the Google Play Store restricting certain apps in your region. An APK helps overcome that limitation.
Getting The Apk Files Or App Bundles
Before you can sideload an app on Android, you need to obtain its installation file. Android app installers have the .APK file extension thats short for Android Package. APK files contain everything thats needed to install and run the app. Apart from APKs, youll find app bundles, which are also used to install Android apps.
There are two kinds of app bundles official and unofficial. The official Android app bundle format is AAB and it was introduced back in 2018 by Google. The company is making it mandatory for app developers to publish all new Android apps in AAB in the Google Play store starting August 2021. One can also covert a standard AAB package to an APK set archive, which uses the .apks file extension.
The unofficial app bundles come from sites like APKMirror and APKPure, which have created their own app bundles called APKM and XAPK, respectively. The app bundles pack a base APK file and multiple resource bundles meant for different architectures, layouts, and languages.
These APKs and app bundles are shared by the developers and community members on XDA forums, uploaded on third-party resources like APK Mirror, APKPure, or on stores like F-Droid and . Once youve obtained the APK file or an app bundle for the app you need to install, we can move forward to the actual sideloading bit.
Caution: Do not install APK files from random sources. Only install APK files from trusted sources. Otherwise, you could end up infecting your device with malware.

One of the freedoms provided by Android over other mobile operating systems like iOS is the ability to install apps from outside of the Play Store. Though this does raise security and piracy concerns on the platform, it also gives several benefits: you dont have to wait for updates to slowly roll out over the Play Store, you can install apps onto your phone that Google doesnt want to make available in their own store, and you can use apps that have arbitrary hardware restrictions to specific devices. You can even install third-party app stores, like Amazons, onto any phone or tablet of your choice.
In this article, well cover how to download and install APKs an your Android device.

For native modules, theActive ABI value determines theABI that the editor uses, butdoes not impact what is deployed.

Make Sure That The Apk File Isnt Corrupted Or Incomplete

Many websites offer modded apps that are not safe. Also, they are often corrupted and wont run or, if they happen to run, they are unstable. Meddling with the code will get you there.
What you need to do is stick to APK Mirror or similar websites that keep the app in its original form. They just port it and upload it. They also check every app uploaded by contributors, ensuring that its in its original state.
This all leads to safe and stable apps that wont give you installation errors or, with bundles being an exception, ask to download some suspicious installers to sideload them on your device.
