Logos Bible App For Android

How To Move The Logos App To The External Memory Card And Download All Resources

Basic Navigations | Logos Bible App for Android

Tolino supports App2SD by standard. However, it already has an internal 2 GB memory card installed. If your Logos library doesn’t exceed 2 GB, you can easily use that card to move the Logos app to. My own library however is 10 GB in size, so I’ve researched a way to move it to the external memory card instead.

All the App2SD apps offered in the Play Store support moving apps to the first memory card only, so they’re of no use to get this step done. You will need theDirectoryBind app instead. Please download the latest version from the XDA developers website. You can install it with Total Commander or ADB.

The Directory Bind Tool will allow you to bind a folder on the external memory card to a folder on the internal memory card. The folder on the internal card, no surprise, is the Logos resources folder, which you bind to the external memory card. The result is availability of the entire space on the external card for your library.

As a preparation for the procedure, please use the Android settings to move Logos to the memory card. Please also create a single folder on the external memory card . Then unplug the device, force the Logos app to stop via Android settings, start the Directory Bind app, and create a new entry.

More On Active Ebooks

The active book icon shows a number that tells you how many books you have open on this device. Tapping the icon shows a smaller version of the page you were on and the screen can be scrolled left and right to show the other books. A plus sign at the bottom or at the left or right edge of the display can be used to open additional books.

Each open book will have an icon in the upper left and in the upper right . Tapping the upper right icon will allow you to open another book that will share the screen. Once you open the book it will fill the bottom half of the screen. You can drag the line in the middle and move it up or down. If you tap either book the bottom banner will appear and two top banners, one for each book will be shown.

The lower right corner has a command that will view your favorite Bible translation at any time. If you haven’t picked one yet this command will show your list.

You can also rearrange the books on the screen. Simple tap and hold the book you want to move and drag it to the new location.

Note that the books can be rotated and they will appear properly both here in the active view and on the reading page. If the screen is divided to show two books they will be shown left/right for landscape viewing and up/down for portrait viewing.

    Privacy And Data Collection

Privacy advocates and other critics have expressed concern regarding Windows 10’s privacy policies and its collection and use of customer data. Under the default “Express” settings, Windows 10 is configured to send various information to Microsoft and other parties, including the collection of user contacts, calendar data, and “associated input data” to personalize “speech, typing, and inking input”, typing and inking data to improve recognition, allowing apps to use a unique “advertising ID” for analytics and advertising personalization and allow apps to request the user’s location data and send this data to Microsoft and “trusted partners” to improve location detection . Users can opt out from most of this data collection, but telemetry data for error reporting and usage is also sent to Microsoft, and this cannot be disabled on non-Enterprise editions of Windows 10. Microsoft’s privacy policy states, however, that “Basic”-level telemetry data is and cannot be used to identify an individual user or device. The use of Cortana also requires the collection of data “such as Your PC location, data from your calendar, the apps you use, data from your emails and text messages, who you call, your contacts and how often you interact with them on Your PC” to personalize its functionality.

In late-July 2020, Windows Defender began to classify modifications of the that block Microsoft telemetry servers as being a severe security risk.

Best Bible Apps For Android And Fire Tablets For 2021 Summary

    Logos Bible

Which of the 5 apps included in our roundup of the 5 Best Bible Apps for Android should you download? Why not download all of them? Of course, you should start with the app from the company you already use on a computer, if you own one. Im a Logos Bible Software user on my Macs, so I primarily use Logos, even though I like Olive Tree better on mobile.

UPDATE: If you use an Amazon Fire Tablet, you cant download the Olive Tree app since its no longer supported. For a fifth Bible app on a Fire Tablet, look at Laridians Pocket Bible. Its also terrific.

Update: You can also install the Google Play Store on an Amazon Fire Tablet. Its complicated, but if you think you can handle it, fire up the Silk browser on your Fire and head over to the helpful how-to article at Android Police.

If you must make me recommend one over another, then Im going with Olive Tree first. Its got the cleanest and simplest interface. It has enough features for most users. People who need more advanced tools will likely not work on a tablet or smartphone very long. Theyre using a computer-level Bible study suite from either Logos or Accordance. However, dont end your search with Olive Tree. You can try out all of them for free and settle on one with the best features for your needs.

With Reference Scanner, looking up a verse is as easy as snapping a photo. Just scan a biblical reference from any digital or paper surface , and Logos will automatically open to that passage. Got a list of passages? Snap a pic, and the app gives you quick links to all the verses. Just tap to see each one.

    The Bible App From Lifechurch

I always fight with myself about adding The Bible App to my roundup of best Bible apps for any platform, but I always do it for one reason. Its the most popular Bible app available on mobile devices.

I dont like including The Bible App because its not really a complete Bible study app. You cant do word studies or read commentaries and Bible dictionaries. But thats not what Life.Church intended for its users to do.

Instead of more advanced Bible study, The Bible App excels as a simple Bible reading app that also includes social networking built-in and sharing to social media easily and elegantly. You can

    • Listen to audio Bibles.
    • Set the app to remind you to read a daily reading and devotion or see a verse of the day in text or visual format.
    • See what your friends are reading, highlighting, sharing, or commenting about the Bible.
    • Watch videos to help you understand the Bible.
    • Bookmark verses.

Theres a new setting in the visual settings of the Logos Bible app for Android. Tap on the screen to show the menu and hit the three vertical dots in the upper right corner . Swipe down to the bottom and tap View Settings. Now scroll to the bottom of that screen and notice theres a visual filter to turn on or off Notes or Community Notes. Notes refers to notes that user adds to a book or Bible. The Community Notes come from the Faithlife Community.

To add a note, select some text by holding down on the screen over a word you wish to select. Drag the note markers that appear at the beginning and end of that word so the selection covers all the text you want to select. Tap on Note. Choose Private for a user note and Community for a public note.

Another visual setting a person can choose is Bible text only, which strips away the verse numbers, chapter numbers and headings in Bibles that include pericope headings. Go back into the settings as described above and just above the two notes visual filters, theres a Bible text only menu item. Tap it to customize what will show up. The resulting screen allows users to turn on and off the following:

    • Bible text formatting things like bold or italics
    • Chapter/verse numbers
    • Non-bible text the headings mentioned above
    • One verse per line puts it in paragraph or verse per line mode

User Collections now show up in Bible Search as well.

Logos Bible Compared To Other Apps

How to Share Favorite Verses | Logos Bible App for Android

The Logos Bible app packs a lot of power in a decent app. The changes will take some getting used to for longtime users of the old version. It seems to take a few more taps to do simple things, like changing the book in a tab to a new book and syncing books in open tabs or adding a second book window to the book viewer. However, it adds some nice new features like the tabbed interface and the Reference Scanner and simplifies the user interface. I dont use the Reference Scanner that much since I read most theological books in Bible apps that contain the ability to display references by tapping them.

The feature-rich Logos Bible app might seem too complex for people who just want to read the Bible. I wouldnt recommend it to these users. Instead, get the YouVersion Bible app. If you plan to add the use of commentaries to your Bible app use, then Olive Tree offers a good middle of the road option. Olive Tree is simple when you need simplicity but adds features like the Reference Guide, which finds all the content in a library about the Bible displayed at the time like the Logos Bible Guides. Accordance has an iOS version and will soon offer one for Android. It may be out by the time you read this so search the Google Play Store for it.

The Guides in Logos do a great job of quickly finding resources for the user. It works a lot like Olive Tree Bibles Resource Guide in their Study Center.

How To Update The Software Without Losing Root

Software and firmware updates are an important step to keep up with security, especially if you go online with your device. With your Tolino, if you just accept the automatic software update that’s offered to you, you will lose root access. Installation of Telecom provided updates should be disabled on a rooted device, but I’ve not tested that.

The new firmware 1.6.2 hs been released since March 2015, however, no-one has bothered to update the root package so far. In case this will be done at some point, I will update this post.

    Logos Bible Tabbed Browsing

Longtime users of the Logos Bible app will notice first the new tabbed browsing feature. After users log in, they can choose to receive notifications for things like daily Bible reading reminders and then read the first time user help tips. The app will show the user the Tab View. Thats a bit of a misnomer since you dont see the tabs on the screen while reading the Bible. Instead, it behaves like the popular mobile browsers for iPhone and Android. Both Safari on iPhone and Chrome on Android use a form of tabs, but theyre hidden away until you need them. Tap a button to show thumbnails of all the open tabs in the browser. All of the apps from Faithlife include the new Tabs.

The new user interface hides the feature that syncs two open books. Before, users tapped in the lower right corner of the main screen, but the new design forces users to tap the Tab View button and then tap on the sync button in the lower left corner of the screen. This change comes with an added feature: users can sync multiple tabs and two windows in one tab. That means I can open my Bible and a commentary in one tab. Then, I can add a second tab for a second commentary or a second Bible and sync all three. Still, I miss the ability to sync open books from the main screen using the link the lower right corner that the developers removed.
