Take Creative Vocal Recorder By Propellerhead
While were going over iOS exclusive mobile apps for music production, we should mention Take Creative Vocal Recorder. This app resembles Music Memos in several ways. It features three tracks of audio to record via the iPhones mic, a built-in metronome, some drum loops, and a few simple mixing controls. Take might not have all the bells and whistles of Music Memos, nor can it integrate with other DAWs, but its a handy tool for quick ideas. Plus, its free.

One Star For Making An App Congratulations
Now, on to screwing indie/zero access musicians… there is absolutely no information upfront about the fact that after you spend time mastering a piece of your hard work on this app they are going to force you to become a subscriber so that you can listen to it. I absolutely abhor people who do business this way. I can afford it but I refuse to pay for it just because of the way this was done. Imagine people who dont have access to tools to make their music a mastered sound. This app is by no means capable of comparing to what you would get from someone like freq mastering in Portland -for not that much more money. And its a way better investment in yourself and on your hard work. There should be a $.99 option to at least complete the one piece of work I spent my valuable time on. But like any other tech company, greed always prevails. What it says to me is you have absolute disregard for the users time, to you its value is zero. Your app designers are good but maybe fire that sales team? Stupid, manipulative and shortsighted.

Use Apple Lightning Earpods With Reason
So, theres a major problem with the iPhone 7. Its not the fact that it doesnt have a 3.5mm headphone jack, the phone comes with an adapter and it comes with Lightning EarPods . I love my Lightning Earpods. But the problem lies with the Lightning EarPods themselves. There are crap loads of adapters that go from 3.5mm to lighting, but zero adapters currently that go from lighting to 3.5mm.
Why would someone want this? Simple to allow Lightning EarPods to be used with devices without lightning ports . So I cant use my Lightning EarPods with Reason on my Macbook or with Reason on my PC.
Now, normally the only headphones Ill use with Reason are my Sony MDR-7506s .
I’ve owned and USED these MDR-V600’s #headphones for 13 astounding years. Still incredible.
But the reason I want to hear Reason through my Lightning EarPods is for the same reason I want to hear Reason through a smartphone speaker for mixing and mastering. And, beyond manually rendering and transferring a wave file to my iPhone , I was out of luck. Until Airfoil.
So not only can I hear what my mix sounds like live though Lightning EarPods and make adjustments instantly, but this enables me to also walk around and do other tasks to get a feel for the mix to really listen to it, absentmindedly while doing other things, as people will be doing when listening with headphones plugged into their smartphone to make a better judgement on the audio.

Making music on Android? Is that even possible?
Apple does seem to monopolize the attention of musicians, but iOS is not the only platform with the capability of mobile music-making. When it comes to music apps, the Android advantage of supporting all sorts of hardware configurations and specifications tends to work against it.
Routing audio into and out of a device, or generating sounds is quite hard. Its easier to accomplish on iOS because the hardware is always known and the same and so the results are totally predictable. Things on Android are a lot more varied.
Thats fine for games and productivity apps but when you are monitoring, recording and making music, stability is a lot more vital. However, Android devices continue to improve and the number of decent music-making apps has increased to give us a range of options to choose from.
So dont assume your Android device has nothing to offer the tech-savvy musician. Heres our choice for the best music-making apps currently running on Android.
